相撲力士すもうりきしは がっしりした 体からだで、 どっしりとしていました。

The sumo wrestlers are solidly built, and they look big and heavy.

力士りきしの 紹介しょうかいの 後あとで、 力士りきしは 塩しおを 土俵どひょうに ぱっと 投なげて 清きよめました。 ローリーは 土俵どひょうの 近ちかくにいましたから、 力士りきしの 手てが ゴツゴツしているのが 分わかりました。 それから、 力士りきしはもう 一度いちど 塩しおを 投なげて、 手てを パンパンとたたきました。 その 後あと、 足あしを 持もち 上あげ、 ドンと 四股しこを 踏ふみました。そして、 試合しあいが 始はじまりました。

After their introduction, the sumo throw salt onto the ring in order to purify it. Roary is so close to the ring that he can see that the sumo wrestlers have calluses on their hands, as they hold their hands up after clapping their hands to show off their strength before the bout. The salt-throwing and clapping repeats a second time. Finally, the wrestlers stomp their feet wide apart as a part of the ceremony. The match begins.
Rikishi no shoukai no atode, rikishi wa shio o dohyou ni pa to nagete kiyomemashita. Roorii wa dohyou no chikaku ni imashita kara, rikishi no te ga gotsugotsu shiteiru no ga wakarimashita. Roary notices that one of the sumo seems intimidated by his opponent’s assumed power due to their size, and that his opponent is a sumo ranked higher than him. The sumos slap each other and push each other in an effort to force their opponent out of the ring.

They end up in a stalemate, as neither sumo moves one way or the other. They step away from each other for a moment to reset. Then, they go at each other again. The lower-ranked sumo is unsteady on his feet due to being tired. His opponent is the reigning yokozuna, or highest-ranking sumo, who is sweating profusely due to the fight. In a surprise turn of events, the yokozuna ends up rolling out of the arena and falling to the ground with a thud, making for an exciting end to the bout.

Many members of the audience around Roary throw their zabuton into the arena at high speeds as a sign of the upset in the rankings, as well as a sign of praise for the lower-ranking sumo. The yokozuna stands and leaves the arena, disappointed by his loss. Roary will never forget seeing this sumo match.
