Student Picture Rachel Lauer

Rachel Lauer was born on April 3, 1985 in South Bend, Indiana, to Sue and Jay Lauer. Two years later, she gained a sister named Caity and she is currently a freshman at Indiana University. She has two mottled mutts named Catrina and Babydoll, but they unfortunately live at home with her parents. Rachel spent all of her eighteen years of pre-college education in the fine public schools of South Bend, Indiana, and is better for it! Rachel is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree and plans to graduate in four years. Her major is Elementary Education with a French Concentration/Minor and a Language Arts Concentration. Recently, Rachel was chosen to participate in the Urban Semester program for the fall of 2006. After graduation, she plans to teach in a big city and get her master's degree in education. Some of the highlights of her Ball State career include: Assistant to Katie Rau's Undergraduate Fellowship project about recycling surveys, Undergraduate Fellow for the Honor's College with a recycling-based project, active member of the Ball State Swing Society, and this year she is a member of the Student Action Leadership Team at College Avenue United Methodist Church. Rachel is the manager of Coffee Connection Coffee House at that church. Some of Rachel's passions in life are traveling, playing with her dogs, working with children, reading, converting people to recycling, shopping, and dancing in her car. She has always had a passion for the environment and really enjoyed learning about the natural history of Indiana through this experience. Her contributions to the website include entries about Leewell Hunter Carpenter, Margaret Weymouth Jackson, and Joanne Landers Henry.
