This slide
show contains plans for interpretive signs that will be installed
at several trails and sites around the Limberlost,
a wetlands area in Jay and Adams Counties. The purpose of
the project is to inform the public about the natural and
cultural history of the Limberlost as they explore the area.
The signs draw connections between the importance of the Limberlost
and the work of Gene
Stratton-Porter, who extensively researched and wrote
about this area.
Each sign contains facts about history
and nature in the immediate area, as well as a corresponding
quotation from one of Stratton-Porter’s books. The presentation
also shows where some of the signs will be installed and how
students in this seminar have helped restore a small piece
of the wetlands. As funding for creation of the signs becomes
available, Limberlost
Swamp Remembered volunteers will install them at their
designated locations.
