September 1, 1922:  Klan Hosts Picnic for African Americans

The Muncie Post Democrat reported that the Ku Klux Klan attempted to get the African American community to vote Republican by hosting picnics for them.  One Klansman stated, “All we need to do is to give these damn niggers a good feed and plenty of cigars and they will come through on Election Day like they always have."
