1923:  Klan Tries to Purchase Valparaiso University

The Ku Klux Klan of Indiana wanted to own a university so that it could ensure a “100% American” curriculum.  It decided to buy Valparaiso University, which was having financial problems at the time.  However, the national KKK headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia refused to provide the money.
