1938:  Daisy Barr Lawsuit and Death

Daisy Barr, leader of Indiana’s WKKK, was killed in an automobile accident.  Before her death, Barr was sued in the Grant-Delaware Superior Court by the WKKK.  The lawsuit claimed that she failed to send proper membership payments to the WKKK.  The organization demanded $45,085 in restitution.
