allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Meth\u2005has\u2005hit\u2005Muncie\u2005hard.\u2005The\u2005numbers\u2005appear\u2005to\u2005tell\u2005a\u2005story\u2005of\u2005a\u2005city\u2005full\u2005of\u2005addicts\u2005and\u2005junkies,\u2005but\u2005Mike\u2005Martin,\u2005a\u2005former\u2005resident\u2005of\u2005Muncie,\u2005heard\u2005that\u2005narrative\u2005and\u2005decided\u2005to\u2005come\u2005back\u2005to\u2005help\u2005make\u2005a\u2005change.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>When\u2005a\u2005Star\u2005Press\u2005article\u2005asked\u2005if\u2005Muncie\u2005was\u2005a\u2005smart\u2005city\u2005or\u2005a\u2005meth\u2005city,\u2005Martin\u2005got\u2005in\u2005touch\u2005with\u2005city\u2005authorities,\u2005including\u2005Mayor\u2005Dennis\u2005Tyler,\u2005to\u2005start\u2005working\u2005on\u2005an\u2005event\u2005Martin\u2005called\u2005&#8221;Make\u2005Music\u2005Not\u2005Meth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2005was\u2005a\u2005three-part\u2005series\u2005that\u2005took\u2005place\u2005in\u2005the\u2005summer\u2005of\u20052016\u2005and\u2005was\u2005intended\u2005to\u2005get\u2005kids\u2005involved\u2005in\u2005music\u2005and\u2005art\u2005and\u2005away\u2005from\u2005drugs.\u2005Each\u2005part\u2005of\u2005the\u2005series\u2005focused\u2005on\u2005a\u2005different\u2005aspect\u2005of\u2005music.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2005first\u2005part\u2005focused\u2005on\u2005rhythm\u2005and\u2005teaching\u2005kids\u2005the\u2005basics\u2005of\u2005percussion\u2005and\u2005staying\u2005in\u2005tempo.\u2005Martin\u2005invited\u2005a\u2005group\u2005of\u2005drummers\u2005called\u2005the\u2005Shamaniacs\u2005out\u2005to\u2005perform\u2005and\u2005give\u2005free\u2005lessons.\u2005He\u2005felt\u2005rhythm\u2005is\u2005the\u2005most\u2005basic\u2005part\u2005of\u2005music\u2005and,\u2005therefore,\u2005felt\u2005this\u2005was\u2005the\u2005best\u2005place\u2005to\u2005start.<\/p>\n<p>Part\u2005two\u2005was\u2005women\u2005in\u2005music.\u2005That\u2005day\u2005focused\u2005on\u2005how\u2005women\u2005have\u2005influenced\u2005music\u2005history.\u2005That\u2005then\u2005led\u2005to\u2005the\u2005final\u2005part\u2005which\u2005Martin\u2005called\u2005&#8221;my\u2005voice&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The\u2005final\u2005part\u2005of\u2005the\u2005series\u2005focused\u2005on\u2005writing.\u2005Martin\u2005wanted\u2005to\u2005teach\u2005kids\u2005how\u2005to\u2005put\u2005their\u2005voice\u2005into\u2005lyric\u2005writing.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2005final\u2005part\u2005was\u2005also\u2005when\u2005Martin\u2005and\u2005his\u2005band\u2005performed\u2005for\u2005everyone\u2005in\u2005a\u2005free\u2005concert.<\/p>\n<p>Martin\u2005wanted\u2005this\u2005series\u2005to\u2005not\u2005only\u2005give\u2005kids\u2005an\u2005alternative\u2005to\u2005drugs,\u2005but\u2005also\u2005to\u2005show\u2005the\u2005community\u2005of\u2005Muncie\u2005is\u2005more\u2005than\u2005just\u2005the\u2005number\u2005of\u2005meth\u2005busts\u2005they\u2005have\u2005each\u2005year.\u2005He\u2005wanted\u2005&#8221;Make\u2005Music,\u2005Not\u2005Meth&#8221;\u2005to\u2005clearly\u2005tell\u2005everyone\u2005that\u2005Muncie\u2005is\u2005not\u2005a\u2005meth\u2005city\u2005but\u2005a\u2005smart\u2005city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Make
