A StoryMap of Village Businesses on University Avenue
Abbigail Tuttle, Olivia Jordan, and Aubrey Charron comprised the History Team. We collected and curated archival and directory information for your understanding and enjoyment.
What are “Archives?”
Archives are collections of media, often paper or physical film, that are preserved for future generations.
Story Map
In this project, we have all of the information that the archives gave us in a spreadsheet, as the video shows. This was too much information to put onto one spreadsheet, so we decided to do only the current businesses and buildings in the village to make things easier to look at. We went by decade to show the history in these locations because we had to much information, and the archives had some gaps in their information, so going by decade helped to not confuse anyone with such a quick turnaround of businesses or just complete voids of information for certain time periods.
