Dawn was born in the "Windy City," the bustling
metropolis known as Chicago, Illinois. At the age of nine she moved
to Crown Point, Indiana, with her parents and older brother in search
of a quieter, slower-paced life. This dream was shattered, however,
a year and a half later, when she was blessed with another brother,
a noisy bundle of joy that turned the house upside-down. Currently,
Dawn is a senior Special Education major with a focus in Severe
Disabilities and minors in Physical Handicaps and Other Health Impairments
and Spanish. In addition, she is the current president of the Student
Council for Exceptional Children. In her free time, she loves
to read the works of Zora Neale Hurston and Toni Morrison and practice
her singing skills in the shower, as well as wow her friends with
her bubbly personality and sparkling wit. She will graduate in the
spring of 2004 and hopes to teach at the elementary level.
Dawn was not only an active member of the Research
Team, she was also busy with her individual project entitled Just
For Teachers, which included designing lesson plans for
six Indiana authors. She contributed two author and three environmental
issues entries as well: Charles
Major, Michael
Martone, air
pollution, water
pollution, and urban
sprawl.
