The Binding

Tyler Dwiggins

Isaac, the son of a Pastor named Jill, is a religious young man who meets another teen who has just moved to a small Indiana town from San Francisco. He develops a crush on Trevor, and after the persuasion of his newly returned imaginary friend and fairy, Poppy, he decides to lie to his mother and invite Trevor over for a small party. They kiss and spend the night together. The next morning Jill discovers them together. Jill kicks Trevor out of the house, argues with Isaac, and signs up her son for religious-based conversion therapy. It’s also revealed that Isaac’s long-deceased father died of AIDS complications. Isaac challenges his mother to decide whether she wants a relationship with him or with God; it appears she chooses both and they are working on their relationship.
