Agnes, the older sister of Tilly and a current high schooler herself is devastated over her younger sister’s death and is desperate to find a connection to her. She finds Tilly’s DnD campaign notebook and brings it to her DM, Chuck. Chuck acts out Tilly’s campaign, and Agnes realizes a lot about her sister that she never knew while Tilly was alive. This includes that she is queer, has been bullied by other kids at school, and that her community of friends was her true support system. The Young Adventurers version dilutes the queerness of the original play, shifts the age and character relationships around Agnes, and removes a few moments of language.
