Project Outcomes

In its inaugural semester, the S3 was able to achieve the following notable outcomes:

1. Collected and safely disposed of over 1.5 tons of garbage in the Avondale community in collaboration with over 30 students and community residents.

2. Collected and safely disposed of 40 gallons worth of unused prescription medications from 34 students, faculty, and local community members.

3. Distributed 1,000 "prevention post-cards" targeting alcohol misuse on the Ball State campus.

4. Developed a drug and alcohol-free student social network that included over 40 students at its inaugural event.

5. Provided materials on substance misuse and local treatment services to visitors at the Fix Exhibit at Minnetrista.

6. Assisted with the facilitation of Avondale's trunk or treat community event.

7. Completed the educational requirements necessary to become Indiana's inaugural class of ICAADA-certified Prevention Specialist Associates (CPS-A).

8. Laid the groundwork for future S3 assessment and prevention activities on the Ball State campus and in the Muncie community.
