Data Processing

Vicon Nexus

Processed model in Vicon Nexus software. 

Vicon Nexus

  • Kinematic, kinetic, and EMG data are collected using Vicon Nexus software (2.11.0)
  • Data quality is checked and exported to V3D files

DVJ trial in Visual 3D. 

Visual 3D

  • Data are processed in Visual 3D
    • Kinematic and kinetic data are low-pass filtered with a dual-pass Butterworth filter
    • Cut-off frequency 8 Hz and 50 Hz, respectively

  • Variables to be looked at: 
    • Initial contact sagittal plane angle (hip, knee)
    • Frontal plane angle @ max. knee flexion (hip, knee)
    • Frontal plane angle during landing (initial contact-max knee flexion) (hip, knee)
    • Trunk flexion angle @ initial contact
    • Peak ground reaction force
    • Peak sagittal plane joint moment (hip, knee)
    • Peak frontal plane joint moment (hip, knee)
    • Muscle activation 50ms prior to initial contact (Quadriceps, Hamstrings)
    • Muscle activation 100ms following initial contact (Quadriceps, Hamstrings)

Statistical analysis will be done using SPSS software following the completion of the study.

  • 2x2 Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) 
    • Landing (1, 2) x Jump (DVJ, SSVJ)
    • p < 0.05
  • Follow up tests will be run where necessary
