EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The idea for this event at the VillagePromenade is an evening of relaxation and yoga. This event is being hosted for the IU Medical students currently living in the VillagePromenade. The event will benefit not only the students, but the Village Promenade, IUMedical, and the city of Muncie. We want to persuade IU Medical students to stay in Muncieafter they finish school and continue to work for Muncie’s hospitals and clinics.

WHAT'S THE PLAN?

The event will consist of an hour-long yoga instruction, followed by a guided meditation, all led by a yoga instructor from Lotus Wellness Center. Food will be ordered from the Pita Pit, Insomnia Cookies, and amazon.

GOALS

The aim of the event is to offer students a way to destress. This event will benefit IU Medical, the city of Muncie, and the Village Promenade. The Lotus WellnessCenter also benefits from the advertising.

EVENT COMPONENTS

The goal of this event is to create a relaxing environment. IU Medical students have a lot of work on their plates. Attendees will be led through a guided beginners yoga class, taught by a yoga instructor from LotusWellness Center, a local Muncie business that does lessons off-premises. Each student will be given their own yoga mat that they can take home with them, as well as flyers with tips for self-guided meditation and relaxation. The idea for the take-home flyers is that they can teach quick-destress tips, that the students can use in stressful situations later in their lives.

Food will be provided from the Pita Pit. There will be vegetarian options. There will be cookies from Insomnia Cookies, and cans of Weird Tea.

GOALS & STAKEHOLDERS

We are serving a number of stakeholders by hosting this event:

IU Medical students. One of the biggest stakeholders, since they are the primary audience. We want the event to be enjoyable for them and give them something beneficial to take away from it.

The city of Muncie. We want this event to show off a bit of what Muncie offers to local businesses. If students stay to work in Muncie's hospitals and clinics after they finish their studies, this benefits the city's economy, workforce, and overall health.

The Village Promenade. The students who currently live here could choose to continue living at the VP after their school work is done. A successful event hosted here will show that the VP is a worthwhile place to live and is managed well.

Ball State's hospitality program. A successful event planned by hospitality and event planning students at Ball State shows the success and effectiveness of the program.
